Takahata Fudo-son Kongo-ji Temple
Description of this spot
Takahata Fudo-son Kongo-ji Temple is one of the largest temples in the Kanto region (eastern part of Japan), and was connected with Hijikata Toshizo from the Shinsengumi, which was a special police force of the shogunate in the late days of the Edo Era. The temple is busy with events throughout the year, such as New Year’s day visits and temple festival days. In addition, events such as the hydrangea flower festival and fall foliage festival are also held in the patches of natural scenery dotted around the grounds, which give color to the temple through the change of seasons. The temple’s two powerful statues of Herculean strength are impressive sights not to be missed.
