Relax walk in Okunoin
Mt. Koya (Kongobu-ji Temple)
Okunoin is regarded as the most sacred site in Koyasan. It's about 2km walk. You can enjoy this splendid atmosphere and feel that both body and mind have been cleansed to the very core. After lunch if you want to visit other inportant areas in Koyasan, you can buy Danjo Garan and Kongobuji temple tour at a reduced price of 100US$. You need extra 2.5hours for that.
Stunning world of Shingon Esoteric Buddhism
Danjo Garan is another important area in Koyasan. The word Garan is derived from the Sanskrit and means a quiet and secluded place where Buddhist monks may train. It has served as the focal point of the study, training and rituals for Shingon Buddhist monks from the ninth century to the present day. Kodo Daishi expressed a three-dimensional Mandala world through the buildings of Garan. Inside the design is also three-dimensional expression of the Mandala of Shingon Buddhism. Kongobuji Temple is the head temple of 3600 Shingon Esoteric Buddhism. You can also see the largest rock garden in Japan.
