Description of this tour

In those days when William Shakespeare was writing actively books in Europe, Mr. IEYASU, leader of Tokugawa feudal lord family in Japan, won over competitive rivals in the long lasted Warring Period and unified Japan into the Edo era. He chose & moved his cockpit of government into Edo, current Tokyo from his hometown SURUGA, now called Shizuoka Prefecture. After successive Tokugawa Shoguns managed their governments over 265years, governorship of Japan was peacefully transferred back to the Imperial Family in the Shinto Origin country. His Majesty Emperor Meiji with Empress Shoken entered into Edo Castle from Kyoto and modern Japan started with dawn of MEIJI Era just 150 years ago.

The Kokyo Higashi Gyoen, relic of Edo Castle which was constructed by the first three generation of Tokugawa’s successive Shoguns in over 35 years and was caught in Big Fires and burned down has beautifully restored into the great Imperial Garden spreading over the hill in front of Tokyo Station in 1968. Walking in the large garden compound where we find several well preserved remains of the Great Castle, stone foundations or walls of burnt out remains, we can speculate over the Edo era and wonder of those days in 400 years ago medieval Japan….. We are offering you join our 2 hour historical walking tour in the beautiful garden with seasonal flowers blooming in quiet ….
