Hi! I'm Kumiko Kono.

I will guide you!

Description of this tour

Shigarakiyaki (or Shigaraki ware) is an ancient tradition of stoneware pottery made in Shiga Prefecture that survives and thrives to this day. This experience is a private tour of the Shigaraki area in Koka city where this tradition of pottery is still practiced and refined today. The highlight of the tour is a private visit of a potter's workshop. The artist will talk about his work and his philosophy in the context of Shigaraki's history and tradition and will answer any questions you may have.

I have been working as a tour guide for more than 20 years.
I would like to return the hospitality and the kindness that I received in the US while I lived there for two years.
I love meeting and being with guests from overseas. I would like to do my best in introducing Japanese culture and tradition to them.
