Aokigahara , "the Sea of Trees", stretches over the northwest base of Mt. Fuji. As a certified nature guide, I give you interesting and instructive information about the Aokigahara forest! You see, feel and experience amazing natural beauty of the Aokigahara forest. It's a distinctive forest in that trees have grown over the lava plateau. Unique formations of lava and creepy-looking roots spreading over a thin layer of soil have created a mystical and serene atmosphere. The forest-walk includes entering a lava cave called "Saiko Bat Cave". It's a habitat of precious bats during the winter. The highlights of the cave are various formations of lava and its structure.
It's time for you to explore the dense woods with your five senses fully used!! The eco system and unusual vegetation of the forest are informed along the way to the lakeside which offers a stunning view of Mt. Fuji if the weather permits. The final destination is "Ryugu Lava Cave".
You get close to the entrance area where a small Shinto shrine quietly stands. This cave is exceptional as it was regarded a sacred place by those who had reverence and admiration for Mt.Fuji. It's a great opportunity for you to learn the different faces of Mt.Fuji through the tour.
